Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi has left the Namco building. The puzzle action-series, which saw its inception on the PS2, was revered for its quirky premise and addictive gameplay. Several follow-ups were released across the PSP, PS3, and Xbox 360.

A company spokesperson confirmed the departure to website Play.tm earlier today, but did not elaborate further. Currently, Takahashi is participating in a project to architecturally revamp a park based in Nottingham, UK, as revealed in a The Setup interview last week. There’s no word on whether he will return to game design.
