HostCore, Access Media Content From PC On PSP

Update: Version 1.1 released. Along with improved WiFi compatibility, the update adds full support for custom firmware 3.80 M33 and fixes a couple bugs. The new release can be downloaded below.

Homebrew developer Poison of CXMB fame has released a nifty homebrew utility dubbed “HostCore.” Essentially, it creates a virtual bridge between a PC and PSP, allowing users to access media content located on their PC from the PSP. Fully compatible with custom firmware 3.90 M33, the plugin supports loading music, photos, videos, and games from either WiFi connection or USB.

Remember to take a look at the included readme file for installation and setup instructions.

NooMoahk says:

YESSSS! Its just like remote play minus the PS3. HELL YEAH! But are there any other apps like this for PSP?

x3sphere says:

@bubblingwaters: Yes there is. It's in the HostCore_1.0.tar.gz file

@ NooMoahk: I think iR Shell has similar functionality. But, it's not being updated anymore.

NooMoahk says:

Oh and how do I configure the conf.txt file? It shows the values you can use but not how to use them. Any help would be great.

x3sphere says:

It's for configuring the "Quick Key" value. By default its set to the Note button. If you look above that there's a list of codes. For example, if you want to use the HOME button to switch between USB/WiFi modes change it to:

Quick Key "010000"

bubblingwaters says:

yeah you cant open it

x3sphere says:

It opens fine for me using WinRAR. Either way, I've repacked and reuploaded the file in ZIP format so you should be able to extract it now.

I don't really get how the nethostfs part of it is being set up. It just doesn't seem to work.

RJC4LIFE says:

Geez..If this works with pops..woot!!!

x3sphere says:

Hmm... I haven't tried the WiFi function yet, but if you have a router did you try forwarding the port that it is using?

Btw, main post updated with version 1.1.

frosty5689 says:

Yea, i port forwarded. I hate dlink routers though.

RJC4LIFE says:

You need to change the IP addy in the config.txt as well as your quick key...just thought I'd mention that.
Start..Run..cmd..ipconfig/all
(I'm sure everyone knows that and their IP anyway..but meh)
Works preety good I'd say..although I've yet to get it to work for pops, games show up but won't run..gives an error after the gameboot..

ass-tastic says:

I've installed it as it is instructed, port forwarded etc etc. Pictures show up fine, video plays fine ,ISOS show up and play their preview but when trying to access an ISO/CSO to play nethostfs will disconnect then seconds later reconnect while the PSP sits at a black screen and won't get past further. To actually do anything it has to be hard rebooted.

Using latest dark alex firmware 3.90m33-3
PSP slim.
