Homebrew developer Hellcat has released an update to his PSP custom firmware plugin, dubbed Wallpaper Changer. The plugin allows users to set predefined wallpaper images at a specific date, and change/randomize the XMB background behind the waves without writing to flash memory.

Version 1.14 includes numerous bug fixes, along with additional features such as support for changing/randomizing PTF format themes. Also included in this release are two Windows-based utilities for creating compliant 01-12.BMP files and 480×272x24 images for use with the Wallpaper Changer.

* Fixed some lockups during start
* Fixed another conflict with wavepapers in “Once per day” mode
* added PTF changing/randomizing :D
* Added two PC based (Windows) tools for making propper 01-12.bmp replacements (background behind XMB waves) and perfect 480×272x24 PSP wallpapers you can then use with the Wallpaper-Changer.
Both tools take various image formats in any possible resolution as source images and should make most converting tasks very easy (two mouseclicks, and you’re set :))

Without touching flash0?
Hell ya!
Nice one AGAIN!

Hellcat says:

Yes, no touching of flash0 :D

The ironic thing is, the actual "redirect" of the background was a pice of cake, it was a nasty sideeffect to the CFW that took me ages to workaround *lol*

RJC4LIFE says:

Very nice, I've actually wanted something like this for awhile now..what about adding a way to do this with the Themes, possible?

RJC4LIFE says:

Meh..doesn't work for me..is Time Machine interfering?

Hellcat says:

No, TM is not interfering, but there's a bug I am currently hunting that's causing lockups at start....

Diras says:

doesnt work for me im 3.90 m33 on a phatty. it changes the background but no waves are on top:confused1:

Hellcat says:

MagicStick si no prob, I tested some myself using TimeMachine :)

Col70 says:

Great app mate - wanted to have a different background with the standard waves on for ages.

A couple of questions though...

I'm using the PC Tools to grab my image and resize it etc. Only thing is that the image appears really blurred on the background - why is that?
What steps do I take from image to PC tool to transferring to PSP?

Hellcat says:

For the blurring we can thank Sony.

To get a propper, fully working background .BMP for behind the waves the image must be 60x34 which is then scaled up by the XMB to fullscreen => causing the blurrieness.

It's Sonys way of doing things and saving a few bytes....

hi this is my first time using this program but my problem is that its not randomly changing the wallpapers. i have a fat psp with firmware 5.00 m33-3, with 1.20 of your plugin installed. i have it enabled in the recovery menu, i have formated my wallpaper pics to 480x272 in bmp format and i used your wp_convert and i have them in my WALLPAPER folder in photos. i have renamed them 01, 02, 03 etc, and have tried them in the WAVEPAPER folder but no luck does not change the wallpaper at all.:cursing: does it not work with my firmware?
