Square-Enix’s next entry into the Final Fantasy series has been unveiled, thanks to the official game website.
Titled as Final Fantasy Dissidia, the new website reveals that Tetsuya Nomura will be heading up character design on the game. More information is expected to be revealed at the upcoming Square-Enix party in Japan.
PSP sure looks to be the handheld of choice for Final Fantasy, with remakes of Final Fantasy I & II on the way, plus the FF7 spin-off Crisis Core. And now, Dissidia.
Update: A page from the Japanese gaming magazine Shonen Jump has the first screenshots and details on the game. Upon deciphering the Japanese text, it seems that the game will indeed be a one-on-one fighting game, similar to Ehrgeiz. The screens show that some big names from the series will be making an appearance in Dissidia, namely Zidane and Kuja from Final Fantasy IX fame.
