Custom Firmware Enabler v1.0: Load M33 from HEN Environment

Homebrew developers Xenogears and Becus25 have released a utility dubbed Custom Firmware Enabler. As its name implies, this allows users to enable certain M33 functions from within the ChickHEN environment on firmware 5.03.

That said, it’s not quite a full-blown implemention of Dark_AleX’s M33 firmware, but comes close: all features remain intact apart from the built-in recovery menu and support for homemade PSOne rips. Users should take note that while files are written to flash memory during the installation process, nothing is actually overwritten, meaning there is very little risk involved.

Since installation is not permanent, the application must be run again after reboot in order to enable M33 functions. Compatibility extends to nearly all PSP motherboards, including the TA-088 v3. However, PSP-3000 units are not yet supported.

is it possible to install the 5.00 M33-6 permanently with this?

dennis96411 says:

NO! It's not the full M33! It's just so you can load ISOs and play some homebrews but that's it! No recovery mode or plugins, but they'll get it eventually. So right now, you just have to keep loading HEN and maybe run the app to use CFW features, well, most of it. The ISO part is the best.

arcenio says:

it doesnt work for 5.02 version, from this time i try it to 5.03 using ChickHen if they are working

january39 says:

It wont work for 5.02 as it is designed for 5.03 and only 5.03 :)

mortalinstincts says:

V 2.10 is out...

however, theres still a lot of doubt about PSP-3000 compatibility...
