I wonder what happens with certain homebrew that glitches out and black screens the psp with the pop noise while running via this exploit. Any chance of bricking i wonder even though it says does not write to flash.

no there is no way yet to put CFW on the PSP300

The archive here has been updated with an "unofficial" fix from maibrithahn. Homebrew runs smoothly now -- just tested it out on my 3000 unit. Works great.

It seems this is a release by maibrithahn and not official by Davee or Team Typhoon. The article should be changed to reflect this and i hope this release doesn't piss off Davee similar to the KAI Exophase incidents.

Well, I guess we custom firmware users and the rest of the non-PSP are the only ones who did not.



It has full kernel access. But the kernel mode homebrew for older versions must be ported to 5.03 so it can be compatible.



If you install custom firmware on the PSP-3000, you will brick. In the PSP-3000, the Pre-IPL was patched bo s0nY so the custom IPL used in custom firmware will not load; thus leading to a permanent brick if custom firmware is installed.



Someone should make a thread in PSP General called "5.03 ChickHEN Homebrew Compatibility List", I will be more than glad to sticky the thread if it is made. :D

Right, it is noted in the update that this is an unofficial fix. I didn't feel a separate article was necessary.



I've only tried NesterJ so far. From what I've been hearing compatibility is great. The only things people are having trouble with are applications based on the 1.5 kernel. But most homebrew has been ported to 3.X now, so that's not really an issue.

All that information above states that 99.9% of 1.50 kernel homebrew will not work on the 5.03 ChickHEN. Ever.

So if anybody asks about 1.50 legacy homebrew for ChickHEN, tough luck for them.

Also, a suggestion to the article is to add a line / notice somewhere that says that 1.50 legacy homebrew has a small chance of working on this ChickHEN.

1.50 legacy probably has m33 modules and was designed for cfw so it's not compatible with hen.

1.50 legacy homebrew is old homebrew that was coded for Official Firmware 1.50. That 1.50 homebrew does not even require a single M33 module, that is why 1.50 homebrew worked on Version 1.50 and all SEs, OEs and the M33s (3.51 - 3.52 M33 series) without a problem. XD

Maybe he meant LEDA - the environment for running 1.5 homebrew on a Slim. That requires M33 modules and wouldn't run through HEN.

s0nY fixed the TIFF exploit in Version 5.50.

You should not have updated.

I think they just withdrew support for the tiff format rather than patched it, but the result is the same, and probably the motive :crying:
