In North America and Europe, the Monster Hunter franchise has received much fanfare from a decidedly hardcore audience but at the same time has went largely unnoticed by the mainstream or casual gaming crowd. Capcom has took note and is seeking to bring an end to this trend, targeting what is presumably the most probable reason for a lack of Western interest: advertising.

The company plans to put more advertising muscle behind future installments in the series, says Capcom developer Ryozo Tsujimoto:

The PR and marketing for the last two titles in the series have been very limited, but this time we’re taking things far more seriously in terms of the promotion.

If such an initiative will pay off or not remains to be seen, but we will wish Capcom the best of luck. Without a doubt, Monster Hunter is an exceptional RPG franchise that deserves to be recognized by a larger audience overseas. But hey, improvements could be made on the gameplay side of things to bolster appeal as well. You know, like infrastructure play. Right Capcom? *nudges*
