U.S. Air Force Requests 300 40GB PS3 Units

According to a presolicitation notice dated February 25, the United States Air Force has issued a request for exactly 300 40GB PlayStation 3 units. No, they won’t be using these units for training purposes or even intense Call of Duty 4 fragging sessions. Instead, they plan on using the consoles to conduct a “technology assessment of certain cell processors,” the multi-core CPU chip housed inside of the PS3.

The Air Force is taking offers now. So if you have 300 PS3s laying around that are begging to be put to good use, don’t hesitate to send over a price quote.
