Trademark Filing Reveals Mega Man Universe

Capcom has been on a retro kick with the Mega Man franchise as of late, as evidenced by the release of Mega Man 9 and 10. However, if a recent trademark filing is any indication, it appears that Capcom has big plans in store for everyone’s favorite “Pew! Pew!” hero — plans that may involve venturing into the online space.

On April 21, Capcom registered a trademark for Mega Man Universe with the USTO. The title alone screams MMO, or at least suggests a strong focus on online elements. Then again, it could be something completely left field, like a mobile cell phone effort.

Until Capcom is willing to share details, speculation knows no bounds with this one. The trademark crosses several fields of interest, including “computer game software,” and “downloadable game software.”
