Latest in the ongoing Blu-ray vs HD-DVD format war? Sony CEO Howard Stringer, speaking at an event in Manhattan, said that Blu-ray is in a “stalemate” with competing format HD-DVD, essentially foreseeing a situation where there are no clear winners.

Furthermore, Stringer played down the importance of the whole battle, stating that it was “mostly a matter of prestige whose format wins out in the end.”
