Sony: PS3 Is The Best Platform For Startup Developers

Sony is very confident over its outlook for 2008. So confident that Scott Steinberg, SCEA VP of product marketing, has expressed his belief that PlayStation 3 is the prime platform for startup developers who are looking to reach a global online audience.
I think on a global basis, the PS3 brand is going to be the winner. I think the story is already written in Europe and in Japan. In the US it is sort of a ‘jump ball’ that is remaining, but quite candidly I think if a small, start-up company wanted to have global access to their content, and have global commercial potential for their content, Sony is by far the best platform.
We have seen some great indie titles on PSN, such as flOw (which, is soon to be a PSP title) and Everyday Shooter. But is it the best platform for the startup devs? Each platform has its strengths and weaknesses right now, I wouldn’t call anyone better than the other at this point. Though, the fact that Sony is allowing devs to bring over their PS3 PSN titles over to the PSP is definitely a plus.
