Prospective purchasers of Guitar Hero: World Tour, Rock Band 2 and Rock Revolution will be pleased to know that on PlayStation 3, instruments sold with these titles will be cross-compatible across the board, Sony announced today.

That means, the guitar and drum set included with GH: World Tour and Rock Band 2 for example, will be compatible with that of Rock Revolution and vice versa. In addition, both World Tour and Rock Band 2 will feature support for SingStar microphones.

Furthermore, according to Sony’s third-party PR director Michael Shorrock, the company is “working hard to ensure compatibility” with the current crop of Guitar Hero and Rock Band music titles on PS3. Shorrock could not provide a specific timeline, but did promise that an announcement would be coming shortly.
