SEGA: PS2 Ain’t Dead Yet

It’s been almost a year since the launch of the PlayStation 3 here in North America and the PS2 still continues to sell extremely well, in most cases pushing more units sold than its successor each month.
Sega of America president and COO Simon Jeffrey believes that the strong PS2 sales will continue, well into the year 2010 and beyond.
We expect Sony to price manage the PS2’s shelf life for another two or three years at least. PS2 high profile titles, especially ‘wide market’ and licensed titles, will absolutely be part of the Sega portfolio going forwards.
Not surprising at all. Why? Companies love the PS2, it has a huge install base and provides a relatively easy way of making up for the high development costs associated with next-gen platforms.
