PSN To Get Achievements

The PlayStation Network has recently been criticized for its lack of a unified service when compared to Xbox Live, but Sony is set to turn those words around. Speaking in a recent interview, PSN director Eric Lempel revealed that Sony is working on more than a couple upgrades to the service, including cross-game invites, the ability to access the cross-media bar in-game, and an achievements system.

Whoa… whoa, that does sounds familiar to Xbox Live. Yep, Sony is impressed with Microsoft’s online community:

I like how their marketplace is integrated directly into their user interface….Talking across games is fantastic. That definitely builds momentum for games and actually migrate users to other games and keeps you in touch with your gaming community.

So yes, Sony is borrowing ideas from Xbox Live, which is a good thing – all those features listed above are much needed, especially the ability to access the XMB in-game and the achievements system. Lempel also confirmed once again that integration with PSN and the PSP is on the way. We won’t get all these features in the next firmware update, but rest assured that they are coming.

See. Sony are so shite they're copying microsofts 360 ideas.
If you want to do something, do it before it comes out not add it bit by bit, stupid.
Hopefully microsoft will sue Sony for copy infingment and make PS nation bankrupt. HAHAHA

Calm down fanboy!
If Sony want to make there machine better than it is, let them do it!
Its not like their going to calll it Xbox Live!
It makes no difference to anyone what they do, as long it makes it a better console and we all have more fun!
So Pipe Down Boy!

Cheezeball99 says:

But they should, it'd make it better:laugh:

But seriously, if that's what Sony has to do to get better, copy ideas, then I guess let 'em feel free, but don't expect any originality points. I tried not to sound fanboyish, I'm not really pro-360, although I do have a 360, I'm more anti-PS3.:p

Finbaloid says:

Anti Ps3
As Long i enjoy the console, i don't care what it is!
Do ya think the Wii will get anything like this?

so, by calling the service xbox live, ripping off customers on a monthly fee to play games online (something psn does compeletly free), and then having insanely porr customer service and basically refusing u taking ur credit card off of ur live account (i assume just so they can rip u off more so) tht will make the service better???? i think not lol

and u have no basis for 'sony copied microsoft', whats the reason they came into the console market, and with very similar specs to the ps2??? they wanted a slice of the cake tht sony had to itself, mimicing it move for move for a long time, and still doing it now (xbox 360 elite ne1???). Sony are just listening to there audience (and M$ constant gloating about being better, coz once xbox are out of the way the hardcore gamer market should slowly go to sony aswell, just the way it was before with the ps1 & 2), something M$ needs to learn to get ahead in the console market, well, any market for tht matter as there gradually losing customers for windows as people just cant trust them anymore

Calm down, man, jeez! Fanboy, anyone?:glare: I was being very mellow, and very nice, and someone had to go and do that. I have a very unbiased point of view most of the time, and from what I see Sony is copying M$. Want to hear me geek out and fanboy it up? Go time!

Sony are a bunch of unoriginal bastards. Look at everything- I mean, for one, the motion-sensitivity was CLEARLY an afterthought, at BEST. Now Sony is going to start having a central-based online gaming network, AND achievements!? Are you kidding me? They're not even TRYING TO HIDE their clear plagiarism of everything M$ is doing right. Also, don't even knock on the original Xbox, it's specs were over 2x that of the PS2, get your facts straight, not that that matters to me, but it clearly matters to you, which brings me to my next point- The only thing Sony has, which only appeals to stupid fanboys and people with an f-ton of money is that "Oooh, it's technologically better! It's got more power! OOOOooooh!" Well, I highly doubt, even though it's better than the 360 in terms of power, none of that excess power will ever be tapped, and if it is than it will be by the end of the console's lifespan anyway. As for the elite- when the original 360 came out the hardware to make the 'elite' costed way too much, and it would've proven unprofitable, but now that they can, you're calling them copiers? C'mon, software copying is one thing, but how can you expect them NOT to have similar hardware specs? It's not M$'s fault Sony took an extra year bring their "big black toaster" onto the market, in which time production costs on such hardware elements were reduced. Everyone wants HD and more space, so that's what M$ is givin' the people.

And about the hardcore market- consoles can't be 'hardcore' because all you have to do is go buy your system and game, get online and play. "This is awesome!" Yes, that may be, but not hardcore. The only currently hardcore market is the PC, which is, always has been, and always will be a very iconically-hardcore platform. I'm not biased in that opinion, because I don't have a good PC, AT ALL, but that's just the truth, you have to know your stuff to get a good PC, and with all of the tweaks, hardware specs/compatibilities 'n' such, and people pledging their allegiance to it since the beginning of time, practically. With all of the MMOs 'n' hardcore FPSs 'n' such for it it's no wonder why this is true.
[/tyrannous rant]

Also, try to spell better next time, it's irritating when I have to decode what you're trying to say.:glare:
END.

MenaceInc says:

15hours a day on a NES ftw :P

Cheezeball99 says:

Fair enough. Statement: None of TODAY'S consoles can be hardcore.

Finbaloid says:

MenaceInc You are just hardcore lol

MenaceInc says:

umm,gamecube?....smash brothers melee for 23 hours?...and yes i would still say the gamecube is a modern console....more so than the NES at least.also i did sit down and beat resi 4 the day it launched on the gamecube in one sitting....i'd say that was good going for me :P

no,don't think that i meant i could do that....max i've tried is 5 hours on metal gear on nesterJ for my PSP....which doesn't count.

Cheezeball99 says:

True, true. I quit.:p My point was to bash that unprovoked fanboy rant, but I do apologize and retract the statements countered by MenaceInc.

BTW, now that I think, heh, 100's of 1000's of kills and 1000's of hours on Perfect Dark N64...
