PS3 Firmware 2.10 Hits Tomorrow

According to a posting on the official Spanish PlayStation site, firmware 2.10 for the PS3 is set for release tomorrow. Weighing in at around 120MB, the main highlight of this update is compatibility with VC-1 WMV and DivX encoded video files.

That’s not all. As revealed earlier, support for the Blu-ray Profile 1.1 spec is included in this firmware update, which enables picture-in-picture playback. A couple new music related features have been added as well: Voice Changer and Bitmapping.

Voice Changer allows users to change the tone of the sound originated by audio devices, while Bitmapping is designed to improve audio reproduction.

The changelog goes on to state that DivX encoded files must be under 2GB in size, and that VC-1 WMV functionality must first be activated through an option found within System Settings.
