PlayStation Plus Subscription Service Revealed

Earlier today at E3, Sony gave the initial details on the previously rumored paid subscription service for it’s PlayStation Network. According to the press release, PlayStation Plus will provide gamers with “frequent discounts on PlayStation Store content, free and exclusive access to select games, full game trials, early invitations to select betas of popular games, and new functionality such as content downloads and updates which will automatically be “pushed” to the PS3 system even when consumers are not using their system.”

When the service arrives, members will have free access to WipEout HD, Fieldrunners, Age of Zombies, Rally Cross, and a full game trial of inFAMOUS. In addition to the game content, you’ll also have access to the often boring Qore episodes.

You will continue to have access to all games and minis that the PlayStation Plus subscription offers as long as your membership is paid and current.  PlayStation plus will be available for purchase on June 29th and will run $49.99 for a one year subscription.  (Early adopters of a yearly subscription will be given an additional three free months.)  The service will also be available for a 90 day purchase which will set you back $17.99.

PlayStation Plus will be arriving in two weeks and the question now becomes, is there is enough content to warrant a purchase?
