David Karraker has announced that the PlayStation Network has now eclipsed over 1.3 million users worldwide, 600,000 of which are in North America. The PR man said worldwide some 3.7 million pieces of content have been downloaded from PSN.

PSN still is a ways off from catching up to Xbox Live, which now has over 6 million users worldwide. Though it is expected that PSN will eventually surpass Live in terms of users, due to the fact that the service is totally free whereas Live takes a two-tiered subscription based approach.
