In what can only be described as a non-shocker, EA has announced that Need for Speed Shift 2 is due out early next year, during EA’s fourth quarter of fiscal 2011. No further details were provided, the title was merely mentioned as part of an release roadmap on EA’s latest earnings report.

It’s coming to console platforms and PC, which is expected to say the least. For racing enthusiasts, Shift 2 should fill the void nicely following Gran Turismo 5’s eternally-awaited November debut.
