Midway To Focus On Profitable License Properties

In light of financial woes and studio layoffs, publisher Midway today announced that it has scrapped plans to develop a number of license game properties. Specifics were not divulged, but the house of Mortal Kombat now plans to focus only on its core properties that actually make money, like DC Comics and TNA Wrestling.

“The resolution of these licensing arrangements on good terms for the company is a very positive step as we continue to review Midway’s involvement with underperforming projects and focus on our core properties,” said Matt Booty, interim CEO and president.

Scrap underperforming projects and focus on what brings in the dough? That’s a sound business strategy. Have to wonder how long it took them to reach this decision in the last board meeting.
