Konami has released details on the first Metal Gear Online expansion pack, dubbed “Gene Expansion.” In addition to a “Survival” game mode, included in the expansion are three all-new maps, as well as two extra playable characters – Meryl Silverburgh and solider Johnny “Akiba” Sasaki.

Additionally, according to the official MGO website, an extra character slot will be provided with purchase of the expansion pack. Reward Points earned in the newly added Survival mode will allow players to deck out their characters in the latest gear.

Gene Expansion is scheduled to hit Japan on July 17. Pricing details have yet to be announced.
