LittleBigPlanet Begins Shipping October 27

Earlier this morning, word trickled out that references to the Islamic Qu’ran were found in the soundtrack for LittleBigPlanet. Since the topic of region is such a sensitive issue, Sony’s European branch issued a swift response, announcing that all copies currently at retail would be recalled and a new batch of game discs, with the offending material removed, would be sent out. Following this, Sony’s Patrick Seybold has revealed when the next shipment LBP will hit shelves — October 27 in North America.

We will begin shipping LittleBigPlanet to retail in North America the week of October 27th. Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible.

So there you have it. The setback is only a week, which really isn’t that bad, especially with the flood of great titles due out this month on all platforms. A release in European territories will follow shortly after, although SCEE has yet to specify an exact date. When they do, we’ll let you know.
