SNK announced today that The King of Fighters XII, the twelfth installment in its flagship brawling series, will hit the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in July. An exact date was not specified.

“Our development slogan for KOFXII is “KOF Re-Birth” and we’ve aimed to create an entirely new King of Fighters game. To make this a truly unique fighting game, we’ve revolutionized the graphics by creating state of the art visuals – and made no compromises in that process whatsoever,” said Masaaki Kukino, SNK Playmore.

King of Fighters XII features hand-drawn characters complemented with highly-detailed 2D backdrops, akin to Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.
