Speaking in a recent interview, Castlevania series creator Koji Igarashi (aka IGA) shed light on the future of Castlevania — once again confirming that a new DS title is in development and that the next ‘next-gen’ Castlevania may be heading to the Xbox 360, as IGA believes it is truly the best platform for Castlevania, at least in the US.

I will be working on a DS version, but I am thinking of moving to the home consoles for the future. I will continue to use 2D for the DS version, but I’m still trying to figure out which console to do the home console versions. I think the Xbox 360 would be the best platform for the U.S. market.

Further to this, IGA expressed concern in the PS3 market. He stated that if Metal Gear Solid 4 expands on the PS3 market, then there may still be hope for Castlevania on PS3.

In regards to the new DS title, it is already well in development according to IGA and could even make an appearance at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
