UK retailer HMV has admitted that the Xbox 360 listing on its site for Metal Gear Solid 4 was a mistake.

In his enthusiasm, one of our online games team indicated that hmv.co.uk would start taking pre-orders for MGS4 on Xbox 360, when, in fact, he simply meant to ask customers if they wished to receive an alert in the event of this title one day coming out on this platform.

Wow, this guy must’ve been quite excited. But anyways, there you have it, yet another MGS 4 360 rumor shot down.

Is this game a PS3 exclusive or something?

shadowthor says:

yep a ps3 exclusive and hopefully always.

Cheezeball99 says:

Hmm, but maybe they're just trying to cover their ass from a potential law suit from Konami from spilling some sort of beans?:p

bwalker says:

I think they did it on purpose, think about howmany people probably went there to see it and i bet you some of them bought stuff too. I bet they did it just to increase traffic and possible sales. Hell its not a bad idea lol.

Junit says:

MGS 4 360 will happen , MGS 2 was on xbox , MGS remake was on GC I don't think it will be a PS3 exclusive , I don't mind waiting an extra year to get a beefed version on the 360

bwalker says:

I dont think its gonna happen and if it does its gonna be a long way of and be a crappy port. The game was coded ground up for the ps3. So most likely a lot of expensive work will have to go into getting it to work with the 360 architecture. I really dont care if everygame was multi platform. I would still most likely end up with both systems. Im planning to get a 360 soon but im waiting till the new revisions come out so i dont have to worry about it breaking.

Cheezeball99 says:

I agree with bwalker; That's what sucks with the current-gen systems, they're so different when it comes to the programming aspect now, so unless they rebuild it from nearly scratch for the 360 I don't think it will happen.
