Factor 5 U.S. Branch Officially Closes

Factor 5 officially confirmed this morning that its San Rafel-based studio is now closed.
The closure follows word of 37 employees being let go last year in December. Although a decently-sized workforce of around 38 remained during that time, the bankruptcy of Brash Company coupled with the harsh economic climate left funding future projects out of the question. This in turn led Factor 5 no choice but to shut down its U.S. operation, which was responsible for Lair and GameCube hit Rogue Squadron.
Factor 5 in name will still remain afloat, as this news does not affect the GmbH branch, which operates out of Germany. Good luck to anyone who has lost their job as a result.
Giving hope for the future in a statement, the company noted “Although we are saddened by Factor 5 Inc.’s situation, our corporation will remain unaffected by these developments and has partnered with both old and new friends in the industry who will reveal our upcoming projects over the next months.”
