Yes, it was inevitable, we just didn’t expect it to be announced this soon. During an investor presentation at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference, EA chief operating officer John Pleasants casually dropped word that DICE is working on Battlefield 3.

Given that three other Battlefield titles are currently in development, DICE obviously has its hands full, so it would be unreasonable to expect concrete details to crop up anytime soon. That said, all Pleasants could offer in terms of information was that the game is “looking very good.”

I’ve had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product. Of course, that’s not [coming out] in the fiscal year, but that is a product that is looking very good.

Sounds like Battlefield fans are in for a real treat come next year.
