Turns out Valhalla Games’ debut visceral thriller will arrive much later than originally anticipated, as publisher THQ’s fiscal roadmap points to an early 2012 release for Devil’s Third, the company revealed in a investor presentation earlier today. Clearly, producer Tomonobu Itagaki was telling the honest-to-goodness truth when he said it was only around 5 percent complete.

2012? Most of us don’t have calendars reaching that far yet, so we’ll just have to make a mental note for this one.

In case you missed it, the debut trailer can be viewed here. It’s a bloody, carnage-filled third-person hack n’ slash with no shortage of gore. The title will mark Itagaki’s first major production following a sour breakup with Tecmo in 2008, where he previously helmed the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises.
