Speaking in the latest edition of Major Nelson’s podcast of all things Xbox, Capcom US communications director Chris Kramer dropped word that two recently announced titles, namely Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2, are scheduled for release “next year.” That of course means we won’t be seeing them until 2010.

Capcom’s kind of on a 30 year high right now, it’s a pretty amazing place to be. Between everything we’ve got going right now, between the launch of Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5, and our big titles for next year, Lost Planet 2 and Dead Rising 2.

Since both sequels are so far out, it leaves us wondering what else Capcom has in store for this summer. Right now, their release schedule for the remainder of 2009 is looking rather dry – apart from Dark Void and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. Here’s hoping that plans to bring Ace Attorney spin-off Gyakuten Kenji stateside are underway.

I'm really looking forward to Dead Rising's sequel - if it can make the popular step into online co-op this time I think there's a sure-fire multiplatform hit in the making, although Left4Dead sets the bar quite high.
