Confirmed: PS3 Price Cut Effective July 12

Earlier today we reported on an advertisement from Circuit City that listed a new price point for the PS3 60 GB version – $499.
Now, “a merchandising manager (who wished to remain anonymous) at one of the world’s biggest retailers” has told GameDaily that the price drop is indeed retail-wide and it’s scheduled to be effective on July 12. Store ads promoting the new price drop won’t hit till Sunday, July 15.
