Capcom Responds To 20 Minute DMC 4 Load Times, Says Do Not Panic

Capcom’s Chris Kramer has issued a statement in response to a Future Publishing journalist, who claimed that the load times on the PlayStation 3 version of Devil May Cry 4 were only marginally better than that of the Xbox 360 version – which runs entirely from disc.

Capcom reassures that once the game is installed, which does take about 20 minutes to install to HDD, players will be treated to “near-Super Nintendo speed load times.” Good trade-off or not? You decide.

Sigh. DMC4 “load times” on PS3. DO NOT PANIC! [Capcom]

after the game is installed, does it still require the disc for anything other than letting the user play the game?...does it copy over all the data to HD?

x3sphere says:

It does copy all the data to HDD but still requires the disc to be inserted. Probably for anti-piracy reasons.

Would that be snes console? Or my snes9xtyl running at 333Mhz? Preferrably the latter...

I've never had an issue with the game installs..UT3 and Oblivion had their wait times as well, no big deal..go smoke..

MenaceInc says:

thats what i thought.annoying but ah well.
does ps3 linux have access to the hard drive because if so there's surely going to be a way to patch the game files to play straight off the HD without the disc :P

RJC4LIFE says:

Yes it does,sorta..you can dump a BD to the HDD but as of yet no way to run it..
