Capcom sent the unsuspecting intertubes into a tizzy by making the initial announcement for Lost Planet 2 over Xbox Live Marketplace with no word of a PS3 version, leading many to believe that second installment may well be a timed exclusive. Seems as if those beliefs are warranted, as producer Jun Takeuchi confirmed in a recent interview that no development is being done on a PS3 version. Luckily, the news doesn’t get worse from here. Capcom hasn’t completely ruled out bringing LP2 over to multiple formats, so there is hope:

We wanted to show the game first and foremost to fans of the original Lost Planet. We talked to Microsoft about doing it this way and they were interested in it as well. Also, I think it was a unique and memorable way to announce the game.

We’re still thinking about it and haven’t announced a PS3 version, so we can’t say more about it just yet.

Although Capcom isn’t admitting it outright, it sure is looking as if Microsoft yet again scored a timed exclusive with this one.
