Today Astro Gaming, creators of some of the best audio equipment for gaming, have announced the new wireless MixAmp 5.8 and the Astro A*Star In-Ear headphones. The wireless MixAmp will “untether” you from your TV with it’s new wireless receiver, which can clip to your person or sit on the arm of your chair, where your headset and Xbox 360 controller can plug into. While you’ll still have a few cords to deal with, you won’t have to worry about tripping over the cords when getting up.
The wireless MixAmp will have a battery life of roughly 12 hours supplied by AAA batteries or if you wish you can plug it into a USB port for constant power (tethering itself though). The new MixAmp is also going to up the support of channels to 7.1 surround sound through Dolby Headphone Surround technology. You can pre-order the MixAmp 5.8 now for an introductory price of $99.95 with the system shipping sometime next month.
On top of the new MixAmp, Astro Gaming also announced a new headset, the Astro A*Star to be used with your portable electronics or consoles when paired up with a MixAmp. They will also include an in-line microphone and control pendant, allowing you to mute the microphone, make calls, and adjust the volume on-the-go. The headset will be available for pre-purchase mid-November and will ship early December for $79.95.
