Activision Adds Call of Duty Moniker To Modern Warfare 2 Boxart

While Infinity Ward’s latest has widely been referred to as only Modern Warfare 2, it appears that publisher Activision isn’t taking chances with leaving the fabled Call of Duty moniker absent for the game’s retail release. This comes amid analyst concerns that doing so would hurt brand awareness, possibly resulting in less sales.
Community manager Robert Bowling today posted up a photo of what appears to be the near-final boxart for Modern Warfare 2. Sans an ESRB logo, it sports a seemingly out-of-place, stamped on at the last minute Call of Duty insignia. Is this needed? No, but it’ll probably help Activision push a few extra copies to those who wouldn’t recognize it as a CoD title otherwise, making it all worth the while.
