Boy Collapses After 24 Hour WoW: WotLK Marathon Session

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King hit retail shelves last week and as expected, MMO fanatics are succumbing to the addictive nature of Blizzard’s latest, some even taking off work and pushing studies off to the side. One 15-year old teenager engaged in a 24-hour marathon session with friends this past Saturday. Taking very few breaks in-between, he ended up having convulsions and collapsed.
The boy is expected to make a full recovery but his father said he plans on limiting the amount of time his son is allowed to play computer games. His father also warned other parents about the dangers of their sons’ extended game playing. “They also think the boys need to reduce the amount of time they play and will themselves be more vigilant,” he said.
Good to hear he’s making a recovery, but who lets their children play a video game 24 hours straight? I’m sure the kid and his father learned a very important lesson here, however, it’s a shame that it took such a event to raise consciousness.
