Happy 9th Birthday Dreamcast

Nine years ago from today, Sega’s Dreamcast descended on North American store shelves as the first console to include a built-in modem and proper online support for games. Despite its shortened lifespan, the console was home to a number of groundbreaking titles we now consider classics, from Soul Calibur to Power Stone. The combination of widespread piracy, poor management and stiff competition from the PS2 ultimately led Sega to pull the plug on the console.

Today, the legacy of the Dreamcast lives on through homebrew development. Slated to hit later this year is NG Dev’s graphically-impressive shoot em’ up HUX.

The Dreamcast is such a great console. I really like it, but the thing I like better is the games for it.

Two of my favorite games for it are Soul Reaver and Blue Stinger.

Dreamcast was one of the most underated 128bit console ever! It had a great line-up of games, from arcade ports to new ip's! The Dreamcast rocked!

I was an early adopter when it launched, i got it for VF3tb and Sega Rally 2! Awesome games!

Shenmue is another classic, please just conclude this great series already - its painful not knowing the truth!

Also, Sega should release Daytona and SCUD racer on LIVE/PSN! :)
