Gallery: Metro 2033 DX11 Shots, Competes With Crysis Graphically

Posted by Mike Bendel on March 17, 2010 @ 12:16 am

There’s no doubt about it — 4A Games’ recently released post-apocalyptic shooter sure is a looker. As far as interior environments are concerned, we have the gall to say to say that it competes with the mighty Crysis graphically. Surpasses it, even.

Below is an assortment of shots we cherry-picked from the PC version. Click each image for an uncompressed 1080p render. All visual settings were maxed to full tilt under DX11, running on our Core i7 920 and HD5970 powered rig. Performance hovers around a very playable 30-40 FPS, depending on the situation.

wow. :O

to bad my computer wont run it, it looks amazing. Kinda has a S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl feel to it.

Alex says:

oh my god. that game looks .... great!

PR0fessor Burnt says:

looks sick are these maxed graphics..if they're not...

mortalinstincts says:

Its probably maxed out. x3sphere has a supercomputer :w00t: with his screens native resolution being 2560 x 1600. Makes everyone elses computers look stone aged

angelsniper45 says:

native resolution?!?!?!?!?!

x3, post pics of ur rig bro, i wanna see that

x3sphere says:

Took a bunch more pics... this is the best game of 2010 yet IMO. It's like Stalker without all the annoyances. No more having to carry around bandages or radiation shots to heal yourself when wounded. Also, there's no encumbrance limit. Everything is maxed, I'm playing on my HDTV @ 1920x1080. I average around 30-40 FPS.

Darkchild says:

I, for one am a bit skeptical of all that is considered "Great graphics" nowadays. We can STILL see they are games. I want to see a game which I cannot see a difference between reality and the game itself. But I must admit, they look good.

PR0fessor Burnt says:

I honestly hope that day never comes

MenaceInc says:

I would disagree with you when it comes to the enviroments but for human models, yeah, there is quite a bit to go before it becomes completely photorealistic.

mortalinstincts says:

Oh, I thought those were from your Dell screen. Well, whichever screen it might be, the pictures don't fit on my screen

Agreed

Darkchild says:

Would you be so kind as to indulge me in why you hope that day never comes?

Roe says:

Just in case he mistakes it for real life.

MenaceInc says:

Some people already do.

Darkchild says:

In b4 jack thompson

PR0fessor Burnt says:

Because I might mistake it for real life

( ik roe-ur-boat said that). and with 3d technology becoming more widely available I dont think that would be hard. Not that I would use 3d because it gives me a headache when ever I go see a 3d movie so Im sure the home version is much the same

kurts1 says:

Correct me if i'm wrong, but look at the 3rd screenshot... why the hell does the light cast lightshafts behind the shadow? Shouldn't it be the other way around? No, really ,WTF?

MenaceInc says:

There is multiple lightsources perhaps?
