Reggie: DSi Not Reaching North America Until “Well Into” 2009

If you want to pick up a Nintendo DSi anytime soon, it looks like the only option will be to import. Speaking at Nintendo of America’s press conference in San Francisco today, company president Reggie Fils-Aime said that the souped-up handheld will not be arriving stateside until “well into” 2009. Why, you ask? Over here, the DS Lite is still in great demand and Nintendo sees little reason to introduce a new piece of hardware this soon.

I’m all for importing, but the verdict is still out on if the DSi is region-free. I’d assume it will be, since the DS and DS Lite both were, but you never know, especially with the addition of an online-based store.

Ugh...let's hope that the DSi will be region-free and if it is, I'll just bite down and import it. :/

THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT BABY!!!

Darkchild says:

screen on DSi seems brighter, doesn't it?

x3sphere says:

Yep, it is brighter. The battery life on max brightness has been greatly reduced though... according to the spec sheet on Nintendo's Japanese site, you get 3-4 hours of play time with the DSi. With the DS Lite it was 5-8 hours on max brightness.

ONE GIANT LEAP for Nintendo360.... Several Steps Behind for Sony lol

Now how is the PSP going to Top the DSi? I know i may get one once it comes out next year. I just hope it allows HomeBrew as well.

as for sonys PS3, Sorry Sony looks like the competition is giving you a run for your money. This coming from a person who Prefers Playstation and the older Nintendo consoles over anything the 360 and Wii (although i do own the Wii360 as well). Basically looks like Sony's PSP is leaps and bounds behind the NDS, back to the Drawing board and actually come up with some thing better then a rehashed PSP with mediocre updates.

3-4?!?!
With a Linker that should go to 2-3 :S
