Dragon Quest IX: No online-play

More DQ coverage this week, but this time it’s not so exciting. Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Sky was initially expected to feature online play via the Nintendo DS WiFi connection service, which would allow players to exchange items and equipment with fellow gamers over the internet. However, the latest issue of Famitsu reports that this online mode has been thrown out, in favor of a system that will allow players to trade special items with their friends via the DS’s ad hoc wireless capabilities. Meaning you can only connect directly with other DS units nearby.
