Back in the days of the Game Boy Advance, a company called AM3 released a flash card movie adapter for the handheld — which allowed users to playback video content on their GBA. Needless to say it didn’t take off, but the second time’s a charm right?

AM3 today unveiled DSvision, a download service that promises to bring comics, books, magazines, anime, movies, and television programs to Japanese Nintendo DS units. Similar to unofficial flash card solutions, users of the service will be able to download content onto a microSD flash card, through a special adapter unit which looks like any ordinary DS game card.

Fully licensed by Nintendo, the service will launch in March 2008, with a test run beginning in early January where testers will be able to purchase a 3,980 yen ($36) set consisting of the microSD adapter cartridge, a 512MB special microSD card, and a USB reader.

If this service is successful, then maybe we’ll see downloadable Game Boy games on DS? One can hope.
