Posted by x3sphere at September 30, 2007, 11:52 am

Following the updated release of CPS2PSP, Japanese developer NJ has released an update to MVSPSP, a Neo Geo MVS arcade emulator for the PSP.

Much like the recent CPS2PSP update, this release has been written with the PSP Slim in mind and utilizes the 64MB RAM found in the Slim to eliminate the need of caching most games. However, according to NJ, a few games still need to be converted.

Dark_AleX Releases 1.50 Kernel Add-on For 3.71 M33

Posted by x3sphere at September 30, 2007, 10:20 am

As promised, Dark_AleX has rolled out the 1.50 kernel add-on for custom firmware 3.71 M33. By installing the add-on, users can run 1.50 kernel homebrew on a regular PSP running 3.71 M33 without the need of eLoader.

It is important to note, however, that the add-on will not work on PSP Slim units, since the hardware is incompatible with the 1.50 kernel.

Instructions:

- Copy the directory UPDATE to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE.
- Get Sony 1.50 update and copy it to the root with name “150.PBP”
- Run the program and done.

Notes:

- This program is only for PSP fat. The program will reject PSP slim, due to the 1.50 kernel
not working on it.

Reggie: Halo 3 Not Likely To Push 360 Hardware

Posted by x3sphere at September 30, 2007, 12:15 am

Speaking in a recent Q&A session, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that he believes Bungie’s Halo 3 is not likely to push 360 hardware since the title itself is being marketed to the very same demographic that already owns an Xbox 360.

For this reason, Reggie states that he feels Nintendo does not need to respond to Halo 3, citing a wide variety of games in different genres as the main sales driver for Wii hardware. more »

Pandora Installer For 3.X Kernels Revision 2

Posted by x3sphere at September 29, 2007, 1:13 pm

PSP homebrew developer Hellcat has released an update to his Pandora installer for 3.X kernels, which allows users to create a base Pandora setup from 3.X kernel firmwares such as 3.71 M33. Using the application, users can create a Pandora battery, install the required memory stick files to create a “magic memory stick,” and undo the changes done to a Pandora battery if needed.

Now at revision 2, users can perform all required actions on the memory stick, eliminating the need to run mspformat and msint on the PC.

Once again, although this application runs on the PSP Slim, do not use it on a Slim battery. Instead, insert a regular PSP battery into your Slim and then use it.

New PS3 SKU Release Imminent

Posted by x3sphere at September 29, 2007, 12:09 pm

Model number CECHG01, the new PS3 SKU that popped up on the FCC search pages a couple weeks ago, is now being listed as a PS3 that is eligible for Sony’s 5 free Blu-ray discs offer.

Deal expires at the end of January 2008… so I suspect we’ll see a release of PS3 SKU CECHG01 sometime before then. Rumor has it that this is the $399 40 GB PS3.
