Firmware 3.30 Secrets Revealed?

A quick look at the decrypted PSP 3.30 firmware dump reveals a new operating mode, ‘License Game’. It’s unclear as to what the mode is for but seeing as Sony recently launched a new PSP download service, it is likely that Sony will be adding full PSP games for purchase there soon, and you will be able to download and play them straight off the PSP memory stick.

Bonk takes revenge on Wii VC

Hudson’s official website has revealed their Wii Virtual Console lineup for April. Coming soon is that crazy-caveman from TG-16 classic Bonk’s Revenge. Other games include Bravoman, Battle Lode Runner, and Shockman. All titles will go on sale this April for a total of 600 Wii points each.

Capcom: US publishers focus on Money, not great games

The founder of Capcom Kenzo Tsujimoto has taken an insightful look into what made his company successful. Tsujimoto stated that while American game publishers focus on money, Japanese companies like Capcom focus on making innovative games that favor the hardcore gamer. As such, they always operate under the assumption that there’s a high possibility of losing money, but that’s their style and it has seemed to have worked well for them :-)

PS3 visual designer talks boomerang controller

In an interview with OPM, PS3 visual designer Teiyu Goto revealed that the original PS3 ‘boomerang’ controller prototype was dropped because Sony felt the change was a great risk, since even the slightest change to the controller could annoy gamers.

As a result, Sony ditched the boomerang and reverted back to the original Dual Shock 2 model, which eventually was fused into the wireless and motion-sensing controller we use today, known as SIXAXIS.

NiGHTS 2 will feature two-player and online modes

A feature story from Portuguese gaming mag, Maxi Consolas, reports that the upcoming NiGHTS 2 for Wii will include a two-player mode along with online functions likely to be integrated with WiiConnect24 (Nintendo’s content delivery service), rather than full-blown online play.

Disgaea PSP this August

IGN has revealed that the PSP version of Disgaea will be making its way to North American shores this August. Disgaea Portable is an upgraded version of the original PS2 Disgaea, featuring additional story and gameplay elements.

Gentoo Minimal LiveCD for Xbox 360

Cpasjuste has combined the Kernel patches and latest Xell into a LiveCD. The CD is about 90MB in size and since it uses the readcd boot method, you may soon be able to boot it without soldering a serial connection to your Xbox 360 mainboard.
