Irem’s classic R-Type side-scrolling shooter series is making a comeback later this Wednesday on Xbox Live Arcade, Microsoft announced today.
Developed by Tozai Games and SouthEnd Interactive, Dimensions is a recreation of R-Type and R-Type II, sporting fully revamped 3D visuals. Like the majority of XBLA revivals, an option to switch back to the old-style 2D graphics on-the-fly is also included for those feeling nostalgic. Additionally, the game boasts co-op play as well as a novice-friendly checkpoint feature.
R-Type Dimensions will be priced at 1200 Microsoft Points. It’s a small price to pay for two shooters that still stand the test of time today.
