With development on DS title Dragon Quest IX finally wrapping up this March, the folks over at Square Enix are already looking ahead to the tenth installment in the seminal turn-based RPG franchise. What’s more, is that during a Japanese press conference last night, series creator Yuji Horii announced that DQX will development for Wii.

The release of DQX will mark the series’ debut on a current-generation console. Dragon Quest Swords hit the console back in 2007, but was considered a spin-off, not part of the main DQ storyline. No details or a possible release date for the title have been announced as of yet, and we aren’t expecting anything until next year at least.
