Reggie: Certain Third Parties Don’t “Get” Wii

by Mike Bendel on November 19, 2008 @ 11:06 am

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has went on record to say that certain third-parties don’t “get” Wii, or understand how to create compelling titles for the motion-sensing powered console.

I will be able to say our licensees ‘get it’ when their very best content is on our platform. And with very few exceptions today, that’s not the case.

The unfortunate fact is that some third-parties do not put enough effort in developing Wii titles as they would, say a PlayStation 3 or 360 title, but still expect to receive a large return on their investment because of the platform’s massive userbase. The reality is that even casual gamers care about the quality of titles. They aren’t going to enjoy a game like Pool Party.
