Rumor: Datel Touts PSP-3000 Hack

by Mike Bendel on November 18, 2008 @ 8:03 pm

According to a report stemming from one heavily Datel-sponsored website, the aforementioned code-pilfering peripheral maker has succeeded in accessing service mode on the PSP-3000. It was previously reported that the Pandora exploit did not work on the 3000 units due to various hardware-level changes, but Datel reckons they’ve discovered a workaround with the help of an all-new battery product, which is being produced by them, naturally.

As skeptics rightfully point out, there is no solid proof that Datel has actually managed to hack anything. As with the first revision of the TA-088 motherboard, the fact that a green LED turns on, does not mean homebrew code or custom firmware can be installed. File this one under wait and see.

B2K24 says:

They have stolen code in the past "PANDORA"

with no mention or credits to the developers who release softwares for people for FREE.

What a bunch of idiots to charge for a battery that does nothing except service mode because there is no released code for them to steal yet !!!!!!!

[DATEL LAB WORKER] Boss we have somehow rolled the correct serial # to trigger service mode on the new 3000 units, however there is no code for us to steal.

[DATEL CEO] Crap, okay just make the damned battery blue and add some LED features and crap

so we can profit somehow until there's code for us to steal.

[DATEL LAB WORKER] Yes sir
