Activision announced today that it has acquired developer Budcat. The Iowa-based studio has assisted on the development on various entries in the popular Guitar Hero series, namely the PS2 versions of Guitar Hero 3, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero World Tour.

Budcat Creations is an outstanding developer with an experienced management team and a very talented group of programmers, designers and artists.

Also proficient in developing for Wii and Nintendo DS, Budcast is currently hard at work on “a new game” in the Guitar Hero franchise. Beyond that, no further details were revealed, but it is rather safe to say that the Guitar Hero title they are working on is one of many entries announced over the past couple months. That includes Guitar Hero: Metallica, Guitar Hero: Modern Hits and Guitar Hero: Hendrix.
