World of Warcraft Hits 11 Million Subscribers

The behemoth grows stronger: Blizzard announced today that total amount of worldwide subscribers for its immensely popular MMORPG World of Warcraft has surpassed 11 million.

“It’s been very rewarding to see gamers around the world continue to show such strong support for World of Warcraft,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment®. “We remain fully committed to responding to that enthusiasm with a high-quality, constantly evolving game experience.

News of the feat comes a mere two weeks ahead of the release of the second World of Warcraft expansion pack — Wrath of the Lich King, which is scheduled to hit North American retailers on November 13.
