New Bungie IP Not Under Microsoft Control

In addition to Halo 3: Recon, the folks over at Bungie are hard at work on a brand-new intellectual property. Details are scant, but according to company PR director Brian Jarrard, development on this mystery IP is not being overseen by Microsoft. In other words, they’re not tied into a specific platform, meaning the yet to be announced title could very well be headed to competing platforms, such as the PlayStation 3. But will it? Bungie still bears a lot of love for the Xbox 360, especially in regards to the console’s online aspect.

For us the 360 has been great because there’s just been this great synergy with Bungie because all of our games have this inherent social community aspect. Everything we’ve ever done has this very big online component – we, together with the Xbox consoles, have continued to push that Live experience, the whole notion of a party experience forward

A multi-platform Bungie release in this day and age would be interesting. It all seems like a big “if,” at this point, though.
