i am using OFW 5.00 so did alex find an exploit that makes me downgrade to 1.50 then to 5.00 M33

You can skip the battery check by holding R and Triangle when you start the update, I did, but keep the charger plugged in to be safe.

can't install. It just won;t do it. Says incorrect file. Have tried from GAME folder and autoupdate. Says 5.00.PBP doesn't exist.

Even if I then try to download it from the internet when it prompts, no go.

Any ideas guys?

Nice. Sadly, this kills the ability to play PSX on PSP (I think, none of mine are working. Would like to see this confirmed).

I would like to know if the OFW had some kind of protection measure in place since there was a rumor floating the other day that "hackers" wouldn't be able to use the new store. People signing in with PSN accounts they already have on their PS3 might be concerned.

You're right.

The store works fine here. I'm signing in from the same account I use on my PS3. The fact that Sony would ban people from PSN just for using custom firmware is *highly* unlikely. However, if you're using a cheat device in an online game, that could get you banned.

I am also signing on with the same account, can access it. If Sony bans people with CFW, they would be banning a LOT of people. Which means they won't buy any of the stuff available. Which means Sony would lose money. Which is bad. There's no point for them to ban us.

Ah, just noticed DA has already both confirmed the pops issue and dispelled the rumor about the store blocking CFW.

i got that samething on my phat as well.. i went back to cfw4.01m33-2 then i i used my non MMS stick and did it again and it update fine...

tried on non MMS but it still got same error...

Few questions before updating:

1- Anyone got banned from the Store? XD

2- Do most of the plugins(4.01) work?

3- Themes from 4.01 work on it?

4- fatmsmod works on it? 8both decrypted and encrypted)

5- Any bugs so far?

6- 1.50 kernel included? probably not. Is it gonna be released?

4.01 themes do not work, read so far plugins a buggy or non working...not banned yetno kernal addon..

tomba.. i dunno then i got that whole error for my phat.. but i using a a MMS that still had the 4.01.pbp.. i so i figure they crossed and thats why i got the blue screen.. but i went back to 4.01m33 then i used my non 8gigmms and it went thru fine

I just tested Pops loader on CFW 5.00 it DOES NOT work. you try loading any other POP's from it, you get a blank screen then the old error of (DADADA).

I guess we'd have to wait for a update to the popsloader from DA. Which i hope would be soon, because all my PSX games on my PSP slim hang after the Software developers logo.

you should be good going from 3.90 m33 to 5.00 m33. The main addition here is the psn store. From my understanding of it if you don't want the store I don't think you really need the upgrade if your happy where you are. If you use plugins right now they may not work right now if you upgrade because the developers haven't had time to adapt it to the current kernal. Hope that helped.

Hey x3sphere, how severe are those PNG errors? I've converted a lot of my PSX games and I'm not sure if they're going to cause me problems...

I mean, if those errors render the games unplayable or anything I'd rather not upgrade.

The downside to this, is that it will replace any 32-bit icons with the standard Dracula icon. So if you used PSX2PSP and want to keep your icons, then it is probably a good idea to wait.

It will work on a phat psp.

Upgrading depends on if you have anything that will only work on 4.01 such as plugins then stay on 4.01, or if you want the playstation store feature then upgrade. It all depends on if you want to or not.

Check that "Game folder homebrew" is set to 4.XX in the recovery configuration.

I think you can use iR Shell 3.9 here http://exophase.com/psp/ir-shell-39-released-3151.htm but you have to use the patch to stop hte firmware check here: http://exophase.com/psp/how-to-remove-ir-shell-firmware-check-3203.htm

But be aware that some features may not work as intended or at all.

All of the newly added features in 5.00 (PS Store, USB auto-connect) are accessible on a Phat PSP. As for D_A's savestate plugin, it has always been for Slim units only.

it shoulf be fine with the japan import... region makes no difference.. and u would need a pplugin to play musin within games.. but yes u can play games thru mem stick still

Try 5.00 M33-3 or the latest CFW to enjoy your PSP for PSN and popsloader plugin.

In fact, PSN movies have a firmware checker. So does PSN.

If you have UMD Movies, no need to Update.

Hi, I recently updated the firmware using the 'Network Update' on the menu. Since then my Internet wont work, and some games wont load. i.e. I backed up my copy of Fifa 09 and that has problems when loading up.

Also, whenever I try to open the PSN it says a system software update is needed, yet when I go to the Network Update on the menu it says I have the latest update.

My Snes9xTYL wont load either.

Everything worked fine before I updated, can anyone offer me some help??

What version is your psp at now?

Make sure you update to 5.00 M33-3, it solves the PSN issue.

in the xmb(the main psp menu) press select, press down until "umd iso mode" is selected, press left or right until it says "Sony np9660" and press select.

You are using DC8 to switch to 5.00M33.

This is an updater if you are currently using the M33 firmware range, it sounds like you are on OFW and so you get the error msg.......

Firstly Vaibhav, we do not support piracy over here. Don''t download games, it's bad for the game developers and is unethical.

Help:

Try recopying the file or if that doesn't work then format your memory stick using the PSP and then copy the ISO/CSO using the USB connection between the PC and the PSP. A lot of the times, the card readers can be a problem.

Sweet, thanks. Also, is there a known bug that has anything to do with Dpad malfunction? I just bought this PSP off someone, it had 3.01-OE A and I upgrade to 3.52M33-3 > 5.00M33-6 and now when I'm playing a game it constantly scrolls down. It definitely didn't have this problem on 3.01 OE A, though I didn't test on 3.52M33-3. Also, I removed the button pad and started up a game and it still scrolls down, leading me to believe it's software or hardware malfunction.

I think there can be an accumulation of dust on your D-pad...

try opening it up and checking (if your experienced)...

As mortal says build up of dust will not help, clean it all out first.

If you do need to replace you need to remove the LCD, LCD housing and then undo the ribbon and replace the Dpad board.

If you do open it be very carefull for the thin black wire, snap that and you got a whole world of pain.

What did I do wrong?

Go to Recovery Menu (hold R at before bootup) go to Configuration, then and change kernel to 3.52. Then run the update.

To load the 1.50 Kernel, just need the 150.PBP and the kernel updater app - placed i think into GAME.

hey guys im having a problem with updating this.... my software right now is 3.80 M33-5 trying to update it to 5.00 m33-4 cause thats what is says under game/memory stick (update ver 5.00 the icon says m33-4 in the bottom left corner. so click on it and it goes to a black screen, says unpacking and all that, then goes to verifying 5.00.PBP and then says incorrect file and restarts, i wnet into usb mode and went into game then update and it has 5.00.pbp,DL.PBP,EBOOT.PBP,PUPD.PBP, and u235.prx, if there is anyone who can help it would be greatly appreciated becasue i've been at this all night and can't seem to figure it out...pissed >=(
