Blizzard: StarCraft II Is A Trilogy

by Mike Bendel on October 10, 2008 @ 6:37 pm

Speaking to those in attendance at this year’s annual BlizzCon event, developer Blizzard announced that StarCraft II will be sold as a trilogy, with each game focusing on a particular race.

The first entry in the trilogy will focus on the Terran campaign, while the second and third highlight the Zerg and Protoss races, respectively. Blizzard VP Rob Pardo noted that the latter two installments in the trilogy “will be like expansion packs,” although Blizzard is aiming to have them “feel like standalone products.”

The multiplayer aspect of StarCraft II will remain largely unchanged. However, ShackNews reports that “some units will now be unique to the campaigns and will not be playable in multiplayer.”

Narutonoor says:

I hope they're not gonna be more than 20$ each. 30$ max. That's like saying "yeah buy starcraft but only be allowed to play 1 race"

the hell?

I'd still do it if they were 50 bucks a piece... but damn... are these coming out at the same time?

Blizzard is doing the whole "money grab" thing now. StarCraft3 will be hurt in sales, why? because instead of people going out to "buy the individual races" most people will go out and just D/l the game.

But is all three disc's contain a whole lot of storyline for each campaign (kinda of like the Command and Conquer series where one disc was NOD the other was G something). Oh well i know i'm still going out to buy this.

It's like Namco Bandai Capitalizing on incomplete dot.Hack// RPG's buy making them all in individual Vol.'s and releasing them on certain months.
